Will a 4 wire Sparton work for a turn signal controller? I just got two from Pull-A-Part. It doesn't have the integral flasher like my Signal Stat 6 wire, but I have a seperate flasher control anyway. I am getting ready to do an EZWire rewire and I thought this would be a good unit to use.

Are you asking if you can use a separate can? If so, yes. The can is triggered by amperage and will flash the bulbs anytime it sees a potential on one side (+12vdc) and a load on the other (good working bulbs). Maybe I'm misunderstanding your question.

I really don't know what I am asking, except that it seems that most of the contollers I see have 6 or 9 wires. This one has four, so, being a wiring dummy, I am wondering if it would work.

Spartan switches typically have 7 wires - sounds like some are missing. Six are shown on the graphic here:
    http://home.comcast.net/~sday77/binky/index.htm
(click on the "Repair Info" tab on the left, then select the "Turn Signal" link at the bottom of the list).
The seventh wire goes to the indicator lamp which comes from the third post (identified as "P") on the flasher - if you're using a three post flasher. If you use an EZ wire kit or Painless kit, the flasher will be a two post type, in which case you'll have to tap into the left and right signal light to make the single indicator light flash.
    :)

these (I have two) both have four wires terminating into a connector plug, so it seems that no wires are missing.

Your four wire control head will be for turn-sig lights only. Will not have circuitry for stop light control. Stop lights will have to be a seperate bulb or light.

cool, that should wire up OK then. IIRC, the EZwire has a stop light control circuit...

x2. Okay, I understand what Jake is asking now. I can't recall the exact wire counts, but I think the 6 wire has stop lights but no hazards, the 7 or 9 wire has hazards built in. All use a can to trigger the flashers.
