So, when I purchased my 1975 CJ5 it was to say the least a spagetti maze of wires/cables/and rust. So, when I was fixing things I removed a set of cable controls from inside the cab that ran out to what I believe to be where the winch used to be and tossed it cause it was old and figured I'd never use them.... Don't I feel like an a@# The PO gave me the winch that used to go into that spot, which is cable controlled. It's one of those warn/bellview winches. The only problem is that it need new bearings. I've done a ton of searching and cannot find a parts source for the thing. Just a shot in the dark, does anybody know somebody with parts for this 33yo winch? Pic's of the controls I removed and what the winch looks like. (Note mine doesn't look like that, these I found while searching, but are what I had  and have)

If you cannot find them through a Warn dealer, there should be numbers stamped on the bearings somewhere. Usually on one of the edges of a race. Search those numbers and you will probably find something. Post the numbers and I'm sure someone on here can find that bearing. (I can check my sources too.)

I have a set of controls if you need them. Rescued them from the local car crusher. Unfortunately the winch was already gone.

The bearings are gone, I'll try to get ahold of him and see if he kept the old ones (It was given to me disassembled) :( What do you want for the control? I'd love to have them for it. Send me a PM.

in this case, you can take what you got and let them mic the inside diameter and the outside diameter and match up a bearing, dont even try it at local auto parts store, take it to sombody like applied industrial technologies, and then you may run into what i did, all depends on who is behind the counter, was told they dont make those any more, and dont offer a replacement:mad:.. went up the road 50 miles to the other store, yeh we got one and can have the other in a day:)

Drop Herm an email he rebuilds those early winches and has all the parts available, and for you he is conveniently located Northeast of Vancouver. hermtheoverdriveguy.com

Bearings should be available. I don't think Warn made special bearings. It would have been very expensive.

Applied industrial technologys is just down the street from my work, I'll have to bring em the winch on Wednesday and cross my fingers. I'll checkout hermtheoverdriveguy.com too, could use a new brakepad. Thank you guys for the help, I'll post my findings. :tea:

If you have a local bearing supply you can take your bearings them in and probably get replacements. I always bought wheel bearings from a local vender rather than pay twice as much from a parts store. These guys know bearings!

Went and had the gear box/gears measured and got bearings this morning. I'm proud to say that it's alive!!! It took them a bit to get it measured up, but they worked. Thank you for your help guys.
