    All,
I finished assembling the engine/transmission/transfer case into something resembling what I pulled out last August.
I feel it coming... And fast... The engine is going in the weekend finally! I have fresh motor mounts and everything. Now, my question is, I was going to put it in as a bock with pistons and crank and cam, like it is, then bolt on the head, oil pan, oil float, manifolds, carb, ignition, etc etc, while it is in my frame. I'd prefer it this way as less to scratch and break on the way in. Now, I know the rest I can do, but how about my oil pan, will I be able to get it in there with the front diff in the way? It has -no-body on it right now, making the task much much easier.
On that, what sealers do I use on the pan gaskets? RTV? Copper? I hope to keep leaks on the minimal...

Ok ok, before anyone wants UWOP's,
Here they go, the go devil is Ford Red, with a Ford Black head, black accents, Red PCV valve, red bell housing, black tranny/trans. Now this is an MB engine and I know its not original, but it looks beautiful.

    Thanks as always!

In most cases I would say go ahead and put the head and the oil pan on there while you have it on the engine stand, but in the pic it's not on one, so you would be better off with it sitting in the frame when you go to torque the head bolts. As long as you have a good secure way of picking it up, I would put the oil pan on right before you put it in. Most oil pan gaskets I've used are rubber so they can be reused, and don't use any RTV, but if yours isn't made this way RTV should be fine along with a gasket. Other than the oil pan, I would put everything else on once it's bolted to the frame so that it's held secure for when you torque all the bolts.

Engine looks nice btw, and if you should happen to scratch it trying to put it in and get frustrated and just want to get rid of it......let me know. :)

I used the engine hoist and a strap :)eek:) as I didn't want to rip out any threads when pulling it out, I fear I Have to use the strap again...

Thank you! Oh I'm pretty sure touch up will cover nicely ;)
