This is probably late but In the April 2006 Petersens 4WOR Theres an article called "winch one you want?" The first one compared is a HF 9000lb model. The second is a Milemarker E9000 - also a 9000lb model. They both look identical. Right down to the control switch. Here are the stats:

Motor: 4.5 hp 12 volt DC Permanent Magnet
Rated Line Pull: 9000lbs Single Line
    Line Speed 4000lbs- 7.3 fpm
    Line speed @ 9000lbs- 4.3
    Cable Length: 100ft
    Brake: Automatic load holding brake
    Gear Train: Three stage planetary
    Clutch: Ring
    Weight: 82 lbs
    Dimensions-LxWxH: 21.45x6.00x6.38in
    Country Assembled: China

Specs for the Mile Marker are the same. They probably come off the same assembly line in that chinese factory. Im thinking about getting one of these. Even if it only lasts me two yeasr, thast two years I can save up for a ramsey. I just cant afford a Warn or Ramsey ATM. I think itll work for me. Ive been stuck by myself without a winch before, and I survived. If my life depended on it Id go with warn or Ramsey. I lurked on jeepforum.com and from what I read, all who bought the HF were happy with it.

Just thought Id share my half cent. I have a Looooong list of other priorities for my 'heep' before I can buy a winch.

i think you did the right thing going with the ramsey, they have been around forever and a day, dont think they have been around that long for no reason, couple blocks and you will be amazed at how much even a small winch will pull, was skidding logs with mine last weekend, think my ramsey is rated@6 grand, have it driven by a homade setup of hydraulics, and i know i aint getting the full pulling power,2 blocks and we never stalled it pulling out 35 foot logs, even pulled one of them out of the tree tops that it landed in, that was scary, limbs poping breaking bending etc  should have some pictures of the logs we pulled out this evening over in off topic "crack pipe again:coffee:
