Why get rid of 304? IIRC FJ axles are wider, spring perches wrong. Your axles are pretty tough. Dana 30 front Dana 44 rear. Stay under 33" tires you should be ok, even bigger if you're not real hard on the skinny pedal. I think the Buick v6 is an easier swap, believe the bell is the same for ealier v6. Auto? need bell and trans from a Wagoneer or Comando, or Novak/ Transdapt. lengthen front d/shaft shorten rear.

well im looking for wider, stronger axles im turning 35" tires and but no means am i easy on the skinny pedal. im looking a 4.3l because of fuel mileage and to move the engine far enough forward that i can put in and auto tranny

I have seen this same axle set up ran on a Willys (toyota pick up axles) with 38x15.50 Super Swamper sx tires. In fact you can see him in one of the top truck challenges, he wins. He has tons of clearance and is one of the only people who doesn't break, it worked awesome. To me its kind of against Jeep Law to do it but it did work. Wagoneer 44s are never a bad idea.
