I have a 66 CJ6 and need some front seats. I got offered a set from a 74 CJ6 and was wondering if they were completely different. I know the late one has the fuel tank under the body, but wondered if the seats were changed to the "jump ahead" seats that were in the later CJ7's or are they something completely different.

    Thanks

The CJ-7 seats didn't come around until 1976 so the CJ-6 seats from the '74 should be very similar and mount up with minimal fuss. The toolbox was still there on the passenger side for instance.

My seats should look like the ones in the gallery portion of this site. Thanks Sparky. :)

and thank you for the "worthless" comment bkd, I'll remember that.

Just agreeing - the 'jump forward' passenger seat seat started in 1976 in both the CJ-5 and CJ-7. That style won't work with the under-seat toolbox.

The seats from a '74 won't be exactly like what you have, but they will fit and work fine. I think they will fit without any changes on the '66 brackets if you are planning to use those. the passenger seat 'folds and tumbles', like the original '66 seat. Get the '74 sliders from the driver's side if you can.
