I am getting ready to switch out a transmission crossmember on a 68 cj5 with the 225 v6 and was wondering if anyone had any experience with this and if it would be as simple as jacking up the transmission and sliding out the old crossmember and placing the new or would it be better to pull the transmission first?

Unless I'm missing something in the post it should be as simple as you mentioned. :)

    Yep very simple.
    1. loosen two bolts at trans mount.
    2. loosen 4 bolts at crossmember to frame.
    3. unbolt e-brake cable to crossmember.
    4. loosen T-18 torque nut or bolt bottom side of crossmember.
    5. install jack under trans and lift until you see movement in loosened bolts.
    6. Now your ready to continue drop out of crossmember.
    7. My time was about 30 minutes.
