I'm building a cj6 from parts. I really like the military A1 dash. I know of a decient source for them and I see them on Ebay fairly often.

I have a 304. How hard would it be to use the A1's guage console in a cj6 full of aftermarket gas tanks, lights, alterator, etc.

Or would it be eaiser to get an A1 dash plate and buy all new guages that look kinda like the military guages?

    Thanks.......

IIRC mil spec is 24v. I'd go with the aftermarket 12v.

I was planning on doing exactly that. Retrofitting the original panel with either S&W or Datcon.

    Here's an M37 that's been retrofitted with 12v Datcon gauges (not to mention a 4BT  ): http://www.garbee.net/~cabell/speedometer.htm

X2, the military gauges were all electrical except for the speedometer. Autometer makes a set of black-faced gauges that are close to the stock look if you paint the bezels..

A1 dash will work..same as a m170 hence forth m170 and cj6 are almost identical ..Pick-up a a1 dash on e-bay or a repo and go from there...I have seen complete dash sets(guages) go CHEAP lately on e-pay.....

But I thought the military electrical system was 24V and my CJ will be 12v. Also, will the tach work on the v8?

If this would work, it would be too cool...........
