Well......when I did mine I put a quart of gas in it and about 2-3 of small gravel (clean) and shook shook shook, then repeated the process untill the gas started coming out clean. It worked amazingly well for me..YMMV

Took mine to a radiator shop and had it done. I think it was about 30 bucks.

I did the gravel thing with a rusty John Deere gas tank sure got a lot of rust out, but also found some holes.

If the tank is good enough to save taking it to a radiator shop is the way to go. It's worth the money to have it cleaned and coated.

    :iagree:

Gas and gravel may work, but it's also a very good way to blow yourself up. One spark is all it takes..

The radiator shops I've been to have always been hard up for work, they'll do it cheap and have it back to you fast.

Only in the winter time here in Arizona. Radiator shops are really slammed when the temp get s above 95ºF , which is usually anytime after the 15th of February.R)

x2. and cheap! I did this a couple of times. I don't think I even used gas and it still worked fine. When the gravel comes out clean with no varnish or rust on it your done.:)

I don't think anyone would deny that it works, but any pitting will remain and unless coated rust won't hesitate to come back quickly.
