!971 Jeep CJ5 V-6, I am trying to wire the tail light on the old Jeep. All the lights work except when I try to hook up the hot wire from the brake pressure switch. Not sure where to hook the hot wire. The wiring has many splices and goes in many directions. I am ready to cut the wires back and start from scratch. My chiltons book has the diagram for my jeep year but not the color of wires. Any suggestions. Thanks Lee

Right know I have one hot wire going to the brake pressure switch and the other going back to the rear lights. I have an add on power steering with 10 wires going up the shaft toward the turn signal. I think the wire coming off the pressure light switch is supposed to go to the turn signal switch but I am not sure which color wire. Is there a way to bypass the turn signal switch and run it to the tail lights? Thanks Lee

doesn't matter which post on switch is used.

you do have a 7 wire turn signal switch right?

the 4 wire switch will work, but you need 4 lights (brake and tail/turn) instead of 2 (stop/tail/turn)
