Little help please. On my Dana 18 transfer case. I cleaned the rear cap shim set and replaced them. Was there supposed to be a gasket with them or just the four shims. Does anybody know the torque value when tightening the bolts?

Second question. I removed the transfer case and am now working on my Warner T90 transmission. I removed the four bolts holding it to the bell housing. It is loose but doesn't want to come out. Does the stick shift have to be removed? If not is there anything else that might be holding the tranny? Thanks in advance. -G

did you remove the overdrive gear? pop the circle plate off the back, four bolts, and that big cog will be looking right at you. the gear i am talking about is on the back of the transmission

my question is does the transmission still shift? if not you lost the bearings, and are at the bottom of the case.

just friggin ask me how i know

There is so much grease and dirt that I didn't even know about the plate. Also, the transmission works fine, just leaks oil. It does shift fine. But, do I need to pull the shift or just pull the bearing? Thanks alot. I really appreciate it.

there is a nut holding it to the gear, to the mainshaft spline, if you pop the circle plate off the back of the transfer case, it has five bolts holding it on.

the seprete roller bearings have probbly fallen to the bottom. does it shift into any gear now that you have seprated the transfer case ? can you move the transmission lever?

it sucks i know, i did the same frigging thing, oh it funny, oh so funny:mad:

I have the transfer case off now. I am trying to remove the transmission. I removed the four bolts holding it to the bell housing. Is there anything else that may be holding it in place or do I just need to pull harder? I just don't want to "break" anything if you know what I mean? Thanks! -G
