Never heard of such a thing. According to Chiltons, "assembly in reverse order of disassembly"... ;)

ECJ5.com is probably your best resource. With a digital camera and some patience as a group we can get you through just about anything...

To my knowledge the factory assembly manuals aren't available. Bishko Automobile Literature offers the master parts manuals for about $75.00. They would offer a more complete exploded view.

There's the Jeep CJ Rebuilder's Guide by Moses Ludel ... listed on Amazon.com with a few reviews.

I don't know that a factory "assembly manual" ever existed. I'm sure the factory would document the order of operations for the assembly line, and issue memos on line revisions etc. I doubt that these would be much use to owners, and all the factory docs from this era probably burned or are in the landfill now anyway.

I've never heard of an assembly manual either. I think what you are looking for is called a "service manual", used by the mechanics back in the days prior to computer aided bull. They are very difficult to find. I lucked out when I bought my cj5, and got it from the seller. It is specific to my model by year/1974. You can watch for them on ebay and places like that, but will pay a hefty price for 1 if you do find it. I'd do 1 of 2 things. Pick up a Haynes or Chiltons manual; they're pretty good books. Also a copy of the jeep owners bible. Also, do like you are doing now; post questions here and most folks are more than willing to help. I can't give enough thanks to the people here who have helped me, and I've only been a member here for a few months.

He has a Factory Service Manual ("FSM"). IMHO once you have that the Haynes/Chiltons are worthless.

Thanks for all the replys...When I used to restore Mustangs, you were able to buy full factory assembly manuals...some were over 6 volumes...just thought maybe I could get the same info/books for my 72 cj5.....
