Never pulled the column before. Trying to pull the column on my 78 CJ and wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything.

    - remove clamp bolt at lower shaft.
    - remove firewall bracket
    - Unplug Harness
    - remove four bolts at top of column behind dash.
    - pull column.

I'm thinking the splines between the Upper and lower shaft are just corroded togehter and being a PITA! I've tried getting in there and prying the splines open a little, but can't really get in there too well.

It's not budging and just wanted to make sure I'm not missing a bolt or clip somewhere that's keeping it from coming out.

    thanks
    b

It should jsut be splines. maybe hit it with a propane torch to try and loosen it up, IF you are going to repalce the bottom bearings, i wouldnt wnat you to ruin anything

never mind... found a couple bracket bolts RIGHT behind the dash that I missed. Got it out. guess some fresh eyes this morning cleared things up for me.

Sounds right Brent. PB Blaster or Kroil are your friends.

ya, same CJ Dan. The Wife won't let me sell it! :D

Can't find my PB Blaster, need to get some more when I go to the store for a new steering return line. What's everyones favorite source for a column rebuild kit, or at least the bearings?
