I know this has probably been asked in the past and, yes, I have looked in the archives for info and I have not found my specific answers.

For those out there with four wheel disc set-ups what did you use for your booster, your MC and proportioing valve? I remeber having this info from Jjournal years ago but I have lost and forgotten what I need.

    Thank you

I did really. How do you get it to search and look like that link? did you put the words in as shown with commas and such? Maybe I am not using the search function properly. I always heard that you have to be smarter than the tool.................

Let me revise the question: What set-ups are being run by anyone here on the forum for four wheel disc brakes that work well?

Contact Posimoto for info on the rears.

I recommend a Jeep Cherokee XJ MC/booster/pedal assembly. Might be able to find a Caddy or later model S-10 (my '01 has 4 wheel discs) proportioning valve in the bone yard.

Thanks clint. I appreciate the info. I will PM posimoto. I have the swinging petal set-up from a 72 Cj-5 that I am using in conjunction with the steering column from the same jeep. I will post later when I get all the parts together.

Should this be move to say maybe the fabricators forum?

    Thanks

    Todd

I have 4 wheel disc on my 2A without power and it stops great. I had always thought I would put power on but I don't think it's necessary.

Interesting........ I never considered non powered brakes. I guess my rig would be light enough. Hmmmmm. Do you just run the stock underfloor MC?

Let me start with the disclaimer that I haven't driven my Jeep yet...

I have four wheel discs on my M38A1. I'm using intermediate (1972-75) CJ5 swinging pedals with a 1968 Corvette non-power assisted master cylinder. I hope to test it out soon.

Aside from the info I PM'd you, if you go non-power assist be sure to buy organic (non-metallic) pads. They are designed for non-assist brakes and they definitely grab better. I think I got that tip from nickmil.

Thanks for the help. Yes I do have the warn set-up in the rear and I have the discs in place back there. I didn't seem to have the 1/8" issue you mentioned. I used backing plates from a mid 70's chevy or jeep fullsize and everything lined up perfectly. It's been 8 years since I started this project and my memory fails me. I have a mid 70's fullsize jeep truck narrowed with discs up front. I will look up willwood.

I used the dual M/C of of a 69 CJ5. I took out the check valves and used Wilwood 2lb in line checks and a Wilwood adjustable proportioning valve.

Here's what I ended up with.

To start: I had the 72-75 swinging petal assembly and steering column and a wilwood adjustable valve for the rear. I had a MC and booster from a mid 80's chevy something(can't remember now if it was a fullsize van or a buick somerset?).

To finish: I looked up the wilwood site and did some reading. It appeared that they had a dual mc set-up specifically for 4 wheel discs and in conjuntion with my adjustable valve for the rear bias would work just fine. I called up Port City Racing which is located in Muskegon near where I live and low and behold they had three in stock. I drove over Friday afternoon and picked one up. Kinda pricey. I spoke with the sales rep over there and they did not recommend the 2 lb residual valves since wilwood recommends them only for when the MC is lower than the calipers ie under floor mount on a race car. So I did not pick up the valves at this point. I took the MC home and compared it to the unit I had and it was excatly the same. So, I removed the booster(which I now realize would not fit under the hood with my set-up anyway) and bolted the MC through the firewall to my swinging petal bracket. I went to the junk yard on Sat and picked up an old MC and used the pushrod with my set-up. I will post some pics soon. I finished my lines last night and will bleed them tonight. The one caveat is I won't know how it works until I get the jeep movig under it's own power. I may tow it around the back forty to see once I get the steering hooked up. I will keep you posted.

The rep was correct, you do not need the valves when the m/c is above the caliper.
