I'm currently changing out all the suspension on my 54 m38a1. I've got the springs rearched and new shocks. However the front bushings in the actual frame are totally smooth. They need replaced. How do I get them out? I have a 57 cj5 I’m using as a parts jeep and want to still bushings from that but I don’t know if I can get them out in useable condition. If not where can I buy some replacement ones? Thanks for the help! Jacob

An M38A1 and a '57 CJ should be different. The '57 uses front shackles and rubber 'silent block' bushings. The M38A1 uses rear shackles and the greasable C-shackles, IIRC. Maybe you can look at the vehicles again? I think you should only have bushings in front of the springs of an M38A1. :?

Prolly end up beating them out with a hammer and cold chisle or center punch. A good place to get new parts is krage motorsports or jeep doc. Excelent service and good prices. Good luck.

i am confused here,my 55 a1 only has a bushing in the spring and as stated earlier c shackels at the rear of the spring to the frame if you are refering to what the c shackle mounts in on the frame they are welded in,and i may be wrong but i dont think that is a servicable item

Inside the mount is a steel and rubber bushing. they are replaceable and come in polyurethane (easier to install) as well.
