I've searched the threads, consulted the FSM - no luck.

    F4-134, '61 cj-5.

I've got the PCV plumbing down - from the valve T, one side to the intake below the carb, and the other side to the fuel pump. However, my fuel pump doesn't have the vacuum ports for the wipers, so this line stops and is unplugged. What should I do with this until I put a different fuel pump on?
by the way, I aways thought the jeep ran just fine with a slightly rough idle and an occassional pop or two in the exhaust -which has led me to believe that the PCV and/or EGR may resolve the aforementioned.

Also, another hard line is disconnected from the fuel tank and runs the same route as the fuel line to the fuel pump. However in the vicinity of the fuel pump it is just cut. Is this the remains of what is referred to as the EGR? I've not seen any mention of this FSM... if it is the EGR what is the correct routing of this?

    thanks in advance -

I don't think you have to worry about EGR's or PVC valves on a '61. If you have one then your engine isn't original.

Yeah, it should have a PCV valve. It's mounted on the valve cover on the left side of the F-head motors, kinda behind the fuel pump. Looks like a bunch of pipe fittings all cobbled together. There's one on this motor. Don't think there was any EGR stuff though.

Had the same dillemma when I was restoring the engine on my '58. I wasn't going to use vacuum wipers so I installed a fuel pump without those vacuum connections. At first, I just plugged the line that goes from the PCV valve (on driver's side of valve cover) to the engine block on the driver's side under the carb. But the engine ran like crap, so I ran that line and all was fine. You have to have it.

I definitely have the PCV valve - as pictured above - and as outlined in the original factory service manual.
So, 58WillysCJ5, what did you do with the line that is intended to run to the fuel pump? Simply plug it?
I guess I'll just nix the EGR stuff - it seemed a bit of a reach, being there is no mention of it in the FSM.

You'd probably be OK to plug it. As long as the whole contraption doesn't leak anywhere.

Plug the port on the T that goes(went?) to the fuel pump.

As others have mentioned you won't find an EGR on a F4 that early, they didn't put in an appearance until the early 70s, I know I've seen a pic somewheres of a smogged F4 from that period but I'm not sure if it had an EGR or not.

Not sure about the second line to the fuel tank, V6s & smogged engines had vapour return lines but you shouldn't find them on a '61.
