It is time to upgrade my radiator. I would appreciate any thoughts on this one:

I will be building a new shroud for it. I am tired of cooling issues. I have had problems with my 225 heating up on the trail and hill climbs in the summer for years. I use the original puller fan with a shroud, an electric pusher fan and run my heater on full blast to try and keep the temp in check. It would be nice to just run at 180 all the time.

    Thanks

they look pretty nice, and the price is not bad either. would they fit w/o a lot of fabricating?

My only thought after running out to measure my old rad that I need to replace is will this one fit? My measurements put this one being too short and maybe a bit too wide.

I agree it may be a little wider than my stock radiator which is around 18.5 inches. For height, I think it will fill the radiator opening on the grill. If I am correct all I need to do is fabricate small extensions for the original grill. Please keep the thoughts coming. I appreciate everyones imput:)

Ok. Well I might order one also. Heck I will make it work if it does not and I am hope it has enough cooling power to keep chia cool.

I spent a little more and got a copper cross flow custom made (4HD cores) for $350 at our local Rad shop. Copper, Brass can be fixed, AL usually needs replaced.

These radiators pictured may or may not have problems with the passenger side outlet due to the oil filter on the v6, it is close with the stock unit and the hose on this may make it tighter, not really sure.

    Just a thought...

Dunno if you added it to try to solve a cooling issue, or was it always there, but why are you running a pusher fan? That will definitley cause an overheating situation, cuz it blocks air from ever passin through most of the radiator! This would be worst at slow speeds and would be particularly disasterous if you have a shroud on the radiator!

    Food for thought...

i think he has a pusher fan in front of the radiator in conjunction with the stock fan= double amount of airflow thru the radiator,if said pusher fan is directed as to help and not work against the stock fan:) uh did i get that right?

the problem we found testin em in the wind tunnel was that the fan in front of radiator blocks air from going thru the radiator anywhere the fan housing and/or motor are. Thats why even puller fans need to be spaced away from the radiator just a bit.

An interesting bit of info on radiators also...Air only goes through a radiator at about 35 mph! No matter the vehicle speed! LOL!

The problem with those cheep radiators is that they are basically glued together and meant for a couple seasons racing due to crashes etc. I went with a custom all aluminum with a elec. puller, it fit perfect with just a little careful measuring. I can run all day, Idle in 110+ degrees no problem. I have the guy to call if you want one made. I am just a very satified customer.

How much was your custom radiator? How thick is the radiator itself? If you don't mind send me his info. Thanks
