Looking at a '59 CJ5 that has a shift pattern for a 4 speed and seller says it is a T 98. However, this resource: http://www.cjoffroad.com/writeup.asp?WU_ID=15&noAdd=1 shows the T98 is not an option until '63.

    What do you think?
(P.S. The above reference is kind of handy, thought you might find it helpful, if it is correct:rofl: )

    Thanks

Very well could have been swapped in, it is a common swap.

Yes, they were available. I had a running '59 chassis for a while with the T98 and a PTO. It was an air force Jeep used to push a big snow blower around runways.

It is rare and worth a good penny... some folks pay upwards of $1000 for the tranny alone.

I got mine from a '66, but they were there earlier.

If I have errors in my chart, let me know, otherwise the T98 wasn't used behind the V6 as that page suggests, it was a T18 for one thing. The T86 followed by the T14 was used in with the V6 and the T90 with the F-head to the end of the run AFIAK. I may be wrong...
