Hello folks this is going to be stupid but I must ask.
I know you need to take the wipers off to fold down the windshield, but still
the post stick out of the windshield frame.
What do you folks use to protect your paint from the post.
    Stupid I know but thanks.
    Thanks

    Wipers stay on.

You should have some padded w/s standoffs that keep the w/s spaced off the hood enough to give the wipers clearance.

You don't have to take the wipers off to fold the windshield down. Sounds to me like the standoffs are missing from the windshield or you have different than stock wipers?

By the looks of that photo there looks like a braket that goes over the wipers and then that is what rest on the hood.
Can you still find those parts anywere?
    Thanks

The hood stuff is available in bling form at least from many manufacturers. The brackets I think you'll need to source used. Try a Wanted To Buy (WTB) ad in the classifieds.

I got my metal windshield standoffs from ebay for about $15 earlier this year. Also, if you are moderately skilled with fabrication you could conceivably make them yourself. Getting the lengths correctly measured and executed would be the hardest part about doing that, as one side of the standoff is a little longer than the other to accommodate the sloping hood surface they would rest on when the w/s is folded down.

Regardless, you will almost certainly need to add the padding to the metal standoffs. I think the same material sold as original hood welting is the stuff you'll need. There's thread on that topic if you search around for it. IIRC there's also some debate as to whether a piece of rubber padding was slipped over the welting.

My '56 has the wiper 'brackets' with a cloth covering - but also a latch that hooks into a loop mounted on the hood. tried to load a picture - note sure it will show.

I have a spare set. They should cleanup well...just pay shipping. They do not have the cloth but you could always rivet some webbing or I had two cheap space heaters with the top handle and the neoprene was just the right size to slip on tightly. Let me know if you want them.

Not to change the subject, but is that an aftermarket tub, or a fiberglass one? I don't see the fake battery box lid on the cowl. I gots me a red fitty-six too! Same age as me, 51.

Oh, back on topic - I imagine Walck's 4WD would have those standoff brackets new. If they don't Beachwood Canvas does.
