Play in my steering column?

    After wheeling at Tellico last weekend my steering column has about a 1inch to 1/2 play in it when pushing straight down on the treering wheel. Like when pushing the horn button. Is there a lock pin or something like that inside the steering column that I hay have broke?

    Oh it's a 1975 CJ5 with the stock steering column.

    On my 75 it's how far you have the U-joint/yoke assembly slid up on the shaft. There is some play...but that sounds like to much. I would wouldn'y drive it till you check it out. Maybe the yoke is slipping off.....
