wiper motor cover

    What size are the threads on the machine screws that hold the wiper motor cover in place. Mine are all stripped out so I need to weld them shut and retap them. 71 cj 5 is the year and model.

    I don't know, but I have some suggestions. Welding it up might not be the greatest idea. I know you don't want to use the giant screw idea. Does this cover thread to the motor itself? Maybe the best idea is to install a helicoil in there. They make them down to #10-24 which is probably really close to the possible factory #8-32. The problem with welding (if it is steel) is that the welding is likely harder than your drill bit. This makes drilling difficult. If you break off the tap then things get real ugly.

    better idea is to fill the hole with JB weld and drill/tap that. I have fixed some insane stuff with JB.
