Just wondering if there are any differences between CJ2A seats and CJ3A seats? If so, can you explain what the differences are. Thanks.

According to the Beachwood Canvas site the front seats are the same, the backs are slightly different.

I wish I had a side by side photo to share with you. If you look at the feet on the driver's seat, the left (outer) leg / foot is somewhat longer on the CJ3A. I believe this corresponds with the changes made to the tub to increase the room for the driver by shortening the wheel well boxes behind the seats. I am sure there are plenty of 3A's using 2A seats and visa-versa!

The rear seats differ in a few different ways. Generally, the 3A rear seat has a full back rest as opposed to the short one on the 2A's. The feet / legs are also different size / length on the different seats. Beachwood will also ask you about the seat pan on the rear seat. The upholstery attaches differently on the different rear seats.

As far as I know, the passenger seats are the same.

I am sure there is plenty of room for debate here  , but I know there are differences.

Send me a PM or an e-mail and I can send you some pics of my original 3A seats.

The seats are different. 3A seats won't fit in a 2A. Now since the 2A repro tubs are based on the 3A that throws eveything into a mess. The 3A wheel wells we moved just a bit back and the 3A seat I think leans back more.
I think the 3A and early 3B seats are the same. Do you have 2A or 3A seats because I have a set of 2A seats in my garage that I could measure but don't have a 3A and my early B is an hour away, Bill

There are two renditions of the 2A back seat. The early one looks like the military but doesn't fold down and the other has full back and floor but there is a later one that is similar.
I just submitted a good pictures of the second series back seat, on the 3B Page, for the 2A like I did the CJ5 but it's not on if it ever will be.
Here is a link to the spotters guide. The length of the legs tells them apart if the springs/cushions are gone.

I also did some research on the 2A page and the 3A Page. The things Chasm and Kodiak stated are pretty much right on what what I read else where.

I'm picking up some 2A front seats tomorrow. The guy I bought my 2A off of wasn't sure if the tub was a 3A or a 2A. The data plates indicate 2A, but we all know how data plates can be moved around or replaced. I'm pretty certian I've go a 2A tub, but just wanted to make sure the 2A seats would fit if I did happen to have a 3A tub and it sounds like they will.

Thanks for the replies and info.

A 3A tub doesn't have side bow pockets whereas as 2A does. BUT, I've seen 2A's w/ the brackets taken off.

The 2A drivers seat has a rear right side bracket that rests/attaches to the front edge of the bed. A 2A seat in a 3A tub doesn't reach that edge. It would be floating in the air if I remember correctly.

The legs on a '3A passenger side seat are longer than the ones on a '2A; they will physically fit into the cast mounting brackets on top of the toolbox in a '2A but the seat won't have enough room to drop down into the tub since the '3A had the rear wheelhouses moved about 1" to 1-1/2' back when compared to the '2A tub. Much easier to fit '2A seat frames into a '3A tub than it is the other way around.

If you are interested, I have a '3A passenger side seat frame that I'm interested in selling since I finally found a '2A seat to use...

I picked up the seats on Saturday. I didn't test fit them in the CJ yet, but they "look" like they should work just fine. I'm missing one cushion though. I'm missing the pass side back rest cushion. Anyone no of a good place to pick one up other than Beachwood?
