I just got my new jeep out from storage since winter and I have been driving it around town trying to find any problems with it before I take it up the mountain this summer...R) I was doing about 20 mph and she just dies... I try to turn her back over and she wont fire... i figure it may be fuel pump, lines, filter or even the carb... Im new to all this so any imput would be helpful. My buddy was giving me a tow home when she fired back up about half way home... Shes a bit temperamental:rofl: ... Any input on where to start would help...

Lots of info here, from crud in the tank, to clogged pickup tube screen, to cheap filters that collapse internally. Do a search. Best thing to do, IMHO, is to start with taking the tank out and making sure it's absolutely clean, then replace everything from there to the carb. Old stuff in a fuel sytem is asking for problems. Same with brakes, go new with everything. Just my opinion, but I really hate breakdowns, especially when you're out in BFE.

Check for spark too when it won't fire back up. Could be electrical, I'd eliminate that first, then attack the fuel delivery system. If you've got fire, then all you need is fuel and air:)

If it runs then dies, check for spark. Sounds like a bad coil to me, because it fired up after it had a chance to cool down.

    Hope this helps.

I've had a bad condenser (inside the distributer) cause this also. Starts up after it cools off.

Sound like the same problem I had. Look down the carb and move the throttle. If you don't see fuel squirting into the carb. Then it's a pump problem.
