I am considering adding 4" suspension lift to my 63 cj5.
what types of issues am i getting myself into?
I do have a "professional" jeep mech. but we all know where that will lead
my biggest issue is the steering, does anyone offer a "dropped bellcrank" or will i just have to fab up another bracket/hanger/thingamabob, to make it work
please, any suggestions or past experiances would be greatly appreciated
    thank you much

Bumpsteer can be a major problem if you retain the bellcrank steering with a
4" lift. I'd suggest doing a Saginaw steering swap first or in conjunction with the lift.

    What's the rationale behind a 4" lift?

What type of wheeling do you do?

What size tires are you planning to run?

I put on a 4" lift and love it. I run 235 75R15. The lift gives the jeep a nice look and helps out when I go running trails thru the mountains.

you can go with a 1'' suspension lift and 1" boby lift and still get a good look and be safe you can run a 31 " tires . I'd suggest doing a Saginaw steering swap , but you will not have to .

I like my 3" black diamond lift, works great. It used to be a bit crazy at speed but the springs are starting to get broken in I think (that or I'm just really used to it now). It's great and give me room for 32" tires. My shocks do knock against some stuff that I have to mover though.

FWIW - 31" tires will work with no lift, and a 1" lift has accommodated 32's...but we still don't know what the Jeep will be used for.

i did a 2&1/2 inch then a couple years later a 4 inch lift on my 55 m38a1. i had no problems at all, except i had to put shims between the spring perches to give the axles a better angle up. the tierods did angle up quite a bit but never affected my steering and i have never gotten bumpsteer. after using it for a few years like that i installed power steering, the best thing i ever did.
