Very, very nice job. I'm always impressed with quality work. That is the coolest axle I've seen in years. My Dad used to build narrowed Dana 44's by using two short side axles and tubes. Guys used them in mini pulling tractors. Yours is a thing of rear axle beauty!

    1 ton fun....

    Hello,

Been busy getting the Dana 60 front ready for the Jeep. I took a 95 Ford F-350 High Pinion Dana 60 and had to swap the tubes to get the diff on the passengers side. It was doubtful at first if I was going to have clearance problems with the High Pinion, but it worked out nicely. I took a ton of pics but I can't upload them all.... Now just to paint it and get it all back together....
I'm at the point where I need to decide if I want to run a locker in the front or not. I'm allready fully spooled in the rear and think I may be fine with an open diff front. I'd love to hear any opinions on locked v.s. open diff in the front with a fully spooled rear.

    Thanks,

    Extreem

Now this is truly an impressive acomplishment!

    Kudos!

I figure in regards to your front locker question, the best bet in my opinion would be to set up an air locker, this way you can have the front end locked when necessary, and unlocked when you need to steer easily. :)

    On the front locker question....
I went from spools F/R to a spool in the rear and an open front so it was easier to turn (axle swap). I HATED the open front, any time a front tire unloaded or didn't have traction I stopped! Mine was slightly worse than "normal" with my front radius arms, but still I had forgot how bad it was to not have all the tires turning.
I would recomemnd a locker of some sort even with a rear spool, selectable if possible but what ever you can afford. I used an Eaton Elocker in the rear and am really happy with it so far. I have a limited slip up front now since I got it for free (only a couple hundred miles on it), but will buy another Eaton one of these days.
