Does anyone know of a good engine rebuilder in or around Dallas, Texas? I need to do a complete rebuild on a 1959 F-Head 4 cyl. engine.

Also, What should I expect to pay for this type of engine rebuild? Include: Magna Flux of block, machining the head and block, bore out 4 cylinders and install the complete engine rebuild kit (pistons, valves, oil pump, gaskets, etc...).

The only one I can recommend is "820 Jeep Service" in S.E. off I20 and 820 in Ft.Worth. They can fix you up or recommend someone.

what he said: 820 is a pretty good place. the only other place I would recommend is the guy down in College Station that is affiliated with the USMVA, look on G503, can't remember his name, but he could also steer you in the right direction.

FWIW, I think ANY competent machine shop could easily do a rebuild on an F Head, especially if you are willing to shag the parts for them. Not much secret to these engines and most establishe machine shops still will occasionally see an industrial F head, so the technology (or lack thereof) will not freak them out.........

I need mine done too, but I'm installing the rebuild kit myself. Just got off the phone with a machine shop here. They want 2000 to 2500 bucks to clean, bore, turn and polish the crank and basically get it ready for me to install the parts! Whew! I better try someone else!

Contact Anderson Engines in Lewisville. They rebuilt my 258 for $850. I torn the engine down and took it to them as a long block. It runs great and has not had any problems.
