I posted a thread about 6 months ago about my camper I came across this summer, well I got it home and sitting together with my 73 cj5. But I can't find any information on this contraption, mainly I need to know what to do for a hitch, I cut my tube bumper off and theirs a L channel bolted to my frame that lines up with the frame of the camper, and there is a trap door in the camper over the hitch area with a metal plate and a hole for a pin of sorts, like if I had some sort of knuckle on my rear frame it would line right up but I really don't know. I'm going to try to post what pictures I have but unfortunatly their taken with my picture phone. I would love to hear from anyone with any information at all (sorry but it's not for sale yet so don't ask please). The camper was built by Honorbuilt and I still can't find any through them either, Thanks again and I will continue post pictures (hopefully with a better camera) as my project progresses.
My personal email is ryan.ralph@mchsi.com send me any information or questions you may have.

Those pics are way too small to see any detail. Can you make them bigger so we can help?

Ryan, everybody here is going to be fascinated by your camper. If you can locate a better camera, post up any views that you can.

We have a few old hands here who might know something about your camper. Your camper comes from a few years before my days at the Jeep dealer, so I don't think I can be much help. However, the rear crossmember and body for CJ-5s from 1955 through 1975 are all the same, so if you have all the parts, your camper should mount-up fine on your '73 Jeep.

Also, where are you located? One of the members with some Jeep experience might be close by, and a first-hand look would be very helpful. Even if they can't help you figure it out, they could maybe help with the pictures and description, and would be probably be keen to take a look at your prize.

    hth! Tim

I found some info in a book here that says.

"In 1969 a camper option was made available for the CJ-5. This was a slide-in unit that its own set of wheels and suspension to help carry the load. I was recommended for Jeeps with the V6 and 4.88 axle ratios. The camper slept four, had a built-in propane stove, water tank, sink, and an icebox. Options included a gas/electric refrigerator, a 10,000 BTU heater, and a second roof vent. These campers were produced only in 1969 and early 1970. Upon AMC buyout in February of 1970, this special option was not carried over."

Here I know it's over a month later, but here she is. She's an ugly mess right now, and only a cj enthusiast can appreciate it's coolness abilities.

A guy down the street has one that he bought new. I posted some pictures of it on the forum a few months ago. There was even some discussion about the mounting of it.

    I think it's like a 5 wheel arrangement.

Actually, I think it ties or bolts directly to the rear crossmember with no articulation. There are also braces that connect to the windshield frame. The trailer wheels will obviously skid in a turn. I could be wrong but that's my recollection of the setup. Again, I believe this was discussed in detail before. A search on this forum might be a good idea if interested.

    That's incredible.....learn something new everyday.
My first thought's were "how does it pivot"???
Then seeing the proximity of the seats to the camper....said no way it can!!!
So, does it just "skid" thru turns like mentioned???
Very unique item you have there.
