No, not really other than using a good quality brush. It just seems to flow better and smooth out better. It was used quite a bit here at work for a while, all brush applied. I used it a bit and was surprised with the results.

The local farm and ranch supply sells tractor paint in a bunch of colors. They also sell a urethane hardener for it (take the urethane respirator precautions). It can be brushed on. A gallon runs about $25, hardener another $12. It's supposed to be very tough, and flow out pretty well when brushed on. I'm going to be painting my frame with it, FWIW. It would be an inexpensive option...one that could be touched up/redone at any point.

If it's a 2-part system (with hardener), AFAIK it's an isocyanate mix. We've discussed this before. Be careful not to get it on your skin, or in your eyes. I'd for sure wear a respirator, rubber gloves and goggles, even when brushing it on.

    (Tyvek suit too).

I've used this on my boat trailer and its held up very well.

Nice thing too is that in the colors available, there are rattle cans of the same colors for touch up too.

Tractor Supply sells valspar brand anti-rust paint (DTM). I am going to use the roller method on my 70. Thanks for posting that link, I had it earlier this year, but lost it.

Not sure about Imron, but most of these paints use reducers that are targeted for a specific temperature. The temperature will affect the pot life, but it will also affect the way the paint sets vs dries.

You should be able to use a reducer for a higher temp to lengthen the pot life, but I'd ask for advice at the paint store.

I just stopped by the new TS here in town, and I think I'll be going this way as well. $23/gallon for paint is just too hard to pass up, and using an off-the-shelf color that's available by the quart, gallon or in spray bombs just makes sense.

The only choice left is color - Massey Ferguson red is a definite fall-back, but I picked up spray bombs in the Transport and Equipment Yellow just to see how they come out. The color chips on the cans were quite different from the colored caps on the spray cans.

Mike: Don't have much experience in this, but from what I read, I think you are making a good choice here, keep us posted with some pics!!

I've used this paticular paint on two jeeps of my own. I've used this type on several others including trailers and tractors. I works very well for me. I like the TSC stuff mostly because it's available and inexpensive. If you get the same color in Valspar it'll cost you twice as much and I can't see it does twice as good. Oh btw, my 58 is Massey red and has held pretty well to absolutly no care over the past several years, can't imagine how it'd do with some reasonable care.

I guess I misunderstood - I thought the TS brand was Valspar?

Maybe I should offer more of an explaination. Local paint store sells the brand Valspar same grade of Paint cost me $62+ a gallon plus hardener. TSC is $24 and some change and hardener about $8 a can. I only a while back was told that TSC is also Valspar. I don't know if that's true or not. I've used both. I do know that the results I've been getting with the TSC stuff is no different than the Valspar I was using and it's cost half as much and holds up pretty well as best I can tell. The only drawback if any I can tell is the limited availability of colors to industrial or ag impliment colors if indeed that is any limitation at all. Never been one to settle on a "favorite" color, price and availability usually has a good deal of influence what becomes my "favorite".;)

oh, guess you probably mentioned that way back up there somewhere. Here I was trying to be all knowlegeable andhelpful. The stuff I've used is the TSC brand but was told it was made by Valspar but it doesn't say anywhere that it is. Ok I'm though being knowledgable and helpful, carry on.;)

[edit] curious soul that I am after dropping my daughter off at ballet lessons I thought I'd swing by Tractor Supply. The on the paint row is the paint I've used so often. Also in the very same kind of can is the very same paint labled as Valspar brand. Seems Mike you and I are talking about the same product. Store clerk confirmed the Valspar product as the newer stock. When I ask if Valspar putting their name on it was going to raise the price....they had no answer. Ok I'm back to being knowlegeble and helpful once again.:D carry on.

OK, I'm thinking the "Equipment Yellow" is really Cat Yellow. Here's a 3B in Cat Yellow - not my first choice:

for the interior iv seen some people use line-x, imo its way better then rino but it also costs more, napa also sells a bed liner product that does a nice job if you have the right type of gun to spray it with, just make sure if you get the stuff from napa you let it dry in the warm for about a week and it will be harder then a rock, good luck on you search

Thanks...but if you'd read through the thread you would have seen that I am currently wire-wheeling out Durabak and don't want any kind of bedliner in the Jeep again.
