dash pad

Will the dash pad off of a 76 or newer CJ5 fit onto a 72 CJ5? I wasn't sure because of the windshield angle and the few other differences. If it makes a difference I have the advanced adapters screw in windshield latches not the original latches. Here is a pic of one that I have been looking at:

Fit? Sort of, but it will look like crap.

Different latch downs? No big diff. Will still look like crap.

 

The PO had installed one in my 75. I didn't look to bad. It was flush with the bottom of the windshield glass. When the windshield is folded down it stick up about an inch higher then the folded-down window. It does require relocation of the latches, which doesn't look that good. I just removed mine because I am putting in a full cage.

 

Does anybody have any other ideas about what I can do to change up my dash? My dash pad is pretty torn up and I don't think that I want to go back to another factory padded dash pad. Thanks alot.

 

You could cut one out in the shape you like in styrofoam just a tiny bit smaller than it needs to be then lay fiberglass over it. That way there is still a little bit of give in the event of an accident and you could have cup holders and change trays and whatever you wanted in it.
