OK - so I gave the wife her Jeep for Christmas and she loves it, but in moving it I got stuck in the mud. When I went to put it in 4 wheel drive, I realized I don't know how. I put it in neutral and then pulled the t case shifter down, but it doesnt seem to "click" or "fall" into gear....how do I know when its in gear? Do I need to do something to lock the hubs?

What am I supposed to be doing?? Its a 76 CJ5

Put tranny and tcase in nuetral. Lock hubs turn toward the front (back to unlock). Pull back on the tcase shifter (should be 4low)put tranny in gear. I had to go out and look at my hubs !!!!!

mmmmk - so I put everything in neutral, then I get out and lock the hubs (on the wheels??) by turning them forward? Just want to be sure I have that right...

Look on the hubs to see which way you turn them. you should see and arrow that points to 4 or 2.
