I'm not going to tell you how I broke this, waaaayyyy too embarassing but I'm wondering if I need to spend the $75 +$20 for shipping to get a new shift housing? The broken edge doesn't extend out over the cavity in the main housing, so I don't think the lube will leak. Can I just use some JB weld on the corner? Any ideas? Thanks.

Mmm. That's a T-150 shifter top I think. Not pretty, but if it doesn't leak, I'd say you can leave it for now. Use a big washer to bridge it and goop it up with silicone. T-150s aren't scarce - you can probably get a complete transmission for that much locally if you look for a while. Watch Pirate, post on your local 4x4 boards.

I'd also do a quick fix and go on.

Simple simon. Put a heavy washer on the mount bolt. Build a shim out of a split nut. Make sure that it is the same height or slightly below the lid deck. Run the bolt/washer down tight. Tack weld the spacer to the washer and PRESTO.

J-weld will work fine or a extra large bead of silicon.

Not that bad of a break.

Like all the rest of us, blame the dog.

If you really want to repair it you could get someone to braze it back together. Being a low stress area brazing it would hold until you knocked it off the edge of the work bench again....err...I mean dropped it...err...I mean..oh never mind!
