Will an 83 CJ7 roll bar fit a 70's Cj5???? doesn't have to look pretty or fit like a ?stock? one would but just fit on the fenders.

Don't think so. I expect the CJ-7 hoop mounts to the floor behind the front seats. There's no room for that in a CJ-5.

Pic please. Every CJ-5 rollbar that I've seen mounts on top of the rear fender houses.

My roll bar in my flatty is out of an '80 CJ5 and it went all the way to the floor behind the seats. I cut and rebent it to be a wheelwell mount.

The floors change in 1976, maybe the wheelwells too. If they did, there might be room in a post-75 CJ-5 for the hoop to go to the floor.

If this were for a '75 or earlier CJ-5, my point would still stand, since there's no room behind the seats for the hoop.

If the bar is really cheap and you trust your own welding, you might get it for the hoop. Cut it so that it will fit on the top of the wheelwells, and fab some braces. You can use straight braces in OEM style - walla, no bending. Somebody here might post a few pics and measurements as an example of the OEM bars. I think that the right roll bar will be fairly cheap and available on the used market though - have you checked the WillysTech board?

I replaced the top of fender roll bar on my 74 CJ5 with one from a 84 CJ7. I had to cut a hole into the underseat toolbox to make it fit. Works great and was very easy to do.
