I've got a 57 CJ5 badly in need of some new u-bolts. What I'm trying to figure out is what size do I need?

2-9/16" or 3-1/4"? Or are the smaller ones the front and the 3-1/4 the rear?

    Thanks,
    Evan

I believe the front takes 3 small and one large. The large one goes over the end of the punkin. Take a look at the last picture in the tech article, "Drilled 11" Drum Brake" article in the tech section. (Click on the logo at the top of this page to access the tech articles). I'm not sure about the rears. I can check for you when the sun comes up.

Tommy B is right. Front takes 3 small, one large. Large one for the pumpkin side of the pass. front. Also, if you're planning on "upgrading" by going to the next larger diameter bolt, DON'T! That is unless you're planning on also upgrading the spring plates. Otherwise, you'll need to drill out the originals, and that leaves very little metal on the edges of the holes.
