Lift Size

I am trying to decide what lift I want. I am running 31's and will probably not go larger. No extreme wheeling. Would a 1" or 2.5" be better?

 

I used the 2.5 superlift springs and the ride quality was vastly superior to the stock springs. I had to change out my shackles to make the springs work and went with a nice greasable set.

i went with the 2.5" superlifts on mine too.. i absolutely love them (though some people find them a bit stiff).
when you do your upgrade, spend a few extra bucks for the polyurethane bushings... you wont regret it. I'd say go for the 2.5"

 

I have already replaced the shackles with the flat ones. I still have the original springs all the way around. They're absolutly flat. Rides like no suspension at all. I'm going to go with the Superlift. TruckAddOns.com has the 1" kit for $320 and the 2.5" for $350 with free shipping on each. You can get the Superride shocks for $10 each on their Ebay site.

 

yeah you cant beat their ebay site for stuff like that. i dont have shocks on mine yet but will be buying from their Ebay "scratch and dent" list as well.... great deal. Good luck with the install... make sure you post pics

 

2.5"

 

2 1/2 superlifts with 32" tires here. Yes they are stiff. I made my shackles the exact same length as the originals.

 

I havent cut my ubolts yet because I plan on getting new plates that fit right with the thicker bolts.

I like that lift a lot and coupled with those tires it looks great. so thats a lift made by Superlift? if so, how difficult was that to install. were you able to keep the chasis pretty much stock, with the exeption of leafs and stuff of course.

 

No changes to the chassis. I had to grind in the springs a little at the eyes to get them to slide into the factory hangers. Definitly get some new ubolt plates when you get the lift. The ublots that come with the lift are one size bigger than the originals. I can't remember now if the new was 9/16 or 1/2. I think they are 9/16 bolts that come with the kit.

In fact now that I remember I had to go down to the local shop and get different ubolts for front. The ones in the box were the wrong diameter for the axle.

if you are just looking to get the tires on, the 1" would be plenty. If you are looking to really wheel the thing, and get full range of artic, the 2.5 might be a better idea. I was running 32" buckshot biased plys, and had no probs at all. I got the longer shackles and had been running the TSL LTBs 34" no problem as well. The lift springs were the Superlift, the ride was much better than stock, and with some time, they actually started to flex a little. Wrangler springs over, though is the way to go for real flex. Not a complete bolt on by any means, but gave the equivalent of about 4 inches of lift, and a ton of artic. New shocks, brake lines, spring hangers, spring mounts, steering set up, and driveshafts were all involved, but I would do it again tomorrow on a trail mostly jeep.

Here are some pics of the front Spring Over done with the 34" LTBs. If your looking for some more tire, these are the way to go. They measure about 32.5" to 33" at 6-8 lbs of air. Keep the pics coming.

 

Lift it only as much as is needed to clear the tire of your choice. And why install a stiff spring. Holbrook makes a beautifully flexy spring for short wheel base rigs. I searched around before deciding and they are superior to all but Wrangler spring overs. They only offer 3 1/2" lifts which I decided was too much for my choice of 32" TSL's. I simply frenched the hangers into the frame and ended up with about 2"'s of lift. Love'm.

Not to hijack but never ride on a snapper without a deck at 30 mph through a cut bean field. Anyhow, all of you have posted some great pictures. I appreciate great pictures of great JEEPs.

I run Rancho 2.5" springs. I really like them...like most springs, they were a little stiff at first, but now they seem to flex and ride really well.

Here is a pic of my 3A with 32 x 11.5 swampers. There's another pic in the green jeep thread with 30 x 9.5 mud terrains on it too, just for reference.
