Hey guys, I did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for. Who has done a t case lowering kit and what brand did you use? I looked at a skyjacker kit, but the picture doesn't make sense. It shows two bars that lowering the case. What about the upper mount??? Is that not needed??? I'm talking about the piece that runs from the top of the frame down inside to the cross member.

Hope someone can help me out. I got vvvvviiiibbbbeeesss

Why do you need a kit? You can space it down with washers or any kind of spacer and longer bolts.

I used the Skyjacker kit. Its a set of nice spacers and new bolts. The scissors jack goes under the T-case, loosen all the T-case crossmember bolts, lower jack a little, undo bolts more, lower jack. I removed Driver side bolts and inserted spacers and new bolts, and then did the passenger side bolts. About 40 minutes all total. I thought the spacers looked better than a whole bunch of washers.

OK so the Skyjacker kit works. Did your t case crossmember have the piece that went from the top of the frame to the crossmember??? This is what I am confused about. I don't know how that can still be functional unless it includes spacers for that too.

    Thanks

I just used nuts low lower, Mine. If I remember right. It was one nut on the upper bolt whole of the cross member (between the cross membber and the frame) and 2 for the bottom part of the cross member. And new bolts. It was less than & maybe 30 - hour to install.

What is the reason for wanting to lower the transfercase?
I'd like to get mine as high as possible, out of harms way.

I made spacers out of 1/2" Plate. 2 on each side for a total drop of 1 inch.

Yep, I got the vibe after lifting it. I just haven't done anything about it till now. I would rather try that then spend 300 on a CV rear shaft.

Yikes! I didn't realize a CV was so expensive. Now I get it. :)

Well, sure you could go to a junkyard, find a CV shaft off the front of a Cherokee, rebuild it, shorten it, and then you would have a CV shaft. Or call Tom Woods and do it the expensive way.

I'm going to try the t case drop first.

I had a brand new one built for mine at a local drivetrain shop for $200.

Or try the WTB forum at http://www.ifsja.org/forums/ - lots of parts cars on hand there.

I got an e mail back from Tom Woods. 269 for the normal shaft, 300 for a long travel. Either way I would need the correct yoke which would be another 60.
