    All lights work fine except:
Right front turn signal works fine except when I put the brakes on -then the rt front turn stays solid light and left rear brake goes out. release the brakes and rt front turn goes back to blinking.
Checked: rt front has ground ,Lt rear has gound.
I think the Lt rear brake does the same when parking lights are on.
1968 CJ5, 72-73 steering column and column wiring (I think). Completely re-wired rear of Jeep. Fiberglass body so all grounds are run to frame. What a mess. Any help appreciated

Sounds like a bad flasher in combination with a bad brake bulb? I would start with swapping the brake bulbs to the other side. (left in right, right in left) I found that was my problem after only one brake light one go on even though the parking lights worked. It was corrosion. Of course that was after I tore apart my column first.

All left rear lights and all right front lights work fine when they are used by themselves. Only when the brakes are applied and the Lt rear brake light comes on do the Rt front turn signals not blink. Release the brake and they blink again.

Go to the page on my Jeep:

    http://home.comcast.net/~sday77/binky/index.htm

Go to the Repair Info link, then Turn Signals. There you'll see a Turn Signal Switch Board diagram. If you have flash installed, click on the diagram for an interactive look at how your brakes and turn signal wiring works. Otherwise the diagram alone should help.

I would double check your ground for each light. I had a similar issue. I solved it after cleaning and reattaching the ground wires for the rear lights. Make sure the metal is clean and the connector you are using is attached proper and tight.

You know, I was thinking that too. Since I have a fiberglass body the tail light doesn't ground to the body. Instead, I had to run the ground wire from the light housing to the frame. Maybe something went bad. Its almost like when I put double power to something??? that the Rt front turn stays on because of the extra current going thru the flasher(remember flasher= current heats up metal strip, strip expands, closes circuit) Extra current means metal strip stays hot and stays on? Are there wires run incorrectly to cause double the current?

    Madizell,
I think you might have some thing there. I'm not sure where to start looking however.

    Thanks,

    Figured it out...

At one point in the past when re-wiring I must have had a short in the wiring between the junction block and the dir signal switch( brake light) and just cut the wire. Then when I re-wired the rear lights I had just run the Rt rear lights up to the output for the brake light and connected them in the junction block. This must have gave double power.
Now I took the brake light switch output out of the J-block connected it to a new wire and attached the other end to the cut wire going in to the dir sig switch (wire for brake light) and voila- correct circuit again. No more turn signal on Rt staying on during braking.

    Thanks for the help!
