I want to do a rebuild on my motorcraft 2100. I'm going to pick up the rebuild kit. Do kits come with new needles and seats as well? I'm thinking they don't. The side of the carb shows it has an orifce of 1.08 and wnated to replace all moving parts including needles and seats, but don't know what size is correct for this carb. It seems to runn rich some due to the unburnt fuel smell. I'd like to get rid of that smell. This is a 1975 Cj5 with a 304. I've replaced the power valve in the past but I don't even know if this carb. has the right parts in it anyways, it's 31 years old and I've only owned it a couple of years. Any tech assist out there?

Sounds like your EGR is not working.

Motorcraft 2100 is an easy carb to work on and rebuild.

Rebuild kits should include a new needle and seat.

I think the last one I rebuilt I purchased the kit from Ponycarbs.com.

What is your question about the size not being correct? The 1.08 is correct for a 258 retrofit and stock and a good match for a 304.

I don't have an EGR on my eng. Would this change things? I don't have the diagram on the hook up of an EGR, where can I get that as well?

I thought the Motorcraft 2100 carb for the 304 had the 1.21 venturis, no?

Not just CJs, all Jeeps. Jeep never used anything but the 1.08" 2100 and 2150. I have seen the 1.21" on Fords though. About the only difference between Jeep and Ford 2100s is the float damping spring on Jeeps. If you have one on your carb, save it and use it because it's NLA anywhere.

Busted power valve is common on 2100s. You should be able to get a kit from your local parts store. It will come with all soft parts, a needle and seat, and some hardware (clips and such). It will not come with a new float or choke cover, but just about every other easily servicable part is included.

The kit will come with an exploded drawing and instructions for adjustment. If you want step-by-step instructions, check the factory manual. This might help http://www.ifsja.org/tech/fuel/2150.html but it's for a 2150, which is similar but not identical. There are likely other articles on the net - check Ford sites.

The 2100 is very easy to rebuild. If you feel it's too hard for you, buy a reman from your FLAPS. Don't turn in your core till you are completely, thoroughly done and well road tested (I'd recommend a few weeks) though, and save the tag and the float damping spring if you have it (the new carb won't).
