    Hey guys,

So I was looking at the Poison Spyder website and notice that everything seems to be for 76 on up. I thought the fenders changed in 72 and stayed the same till 86. Also, isn't the steering on a 75 Dana 30 the same as the steering on a 76 Dana 30??? Been lookin' at their steering setups as well.

    Help a guy out here.

There's more different than the same.

'76 was a watershed year for the CJ-5. The steering box may be the same, but the steering column, hardware, steering mount bracket, position in the frame, and frame are different.

The exterior sheet metal is the same, but all the interior body parts (floor, dash, etc) are different. The engines, front axle and transfer case (except for the shifter) are the same. Just about everything else changes in '76.

That may be true Tim, however on their site it lists the draglink(?) as being 43 inches long. I went and measured mine, it's the same. So, wouldn't their kit work here???? Apparently with the kit, you drill out the knuckle to accept a 5/8 inch bolt. Then you can attach everything with heim joints. The drag link and tie rod dwarf stock parts. Looks damn strong to me.

So, are we in agreement with the fenders??? Aren't they the same???

I think you can use the drag link and fenders.

Probably yes to the draglink and tie rod.

The fenders and hood are the same, except for possible minor differences like holes in the inner fenders, bottom edge shape of the inners, and windshield bumpers.

Last night I looked up the cost to just replace with stock parts it would be like 80 bucks. This setup from Poison Spyder is 250 something!!!! Pretty sure I'll just go stock. I would like to replace those steering components just because they are 30 years old. I think I'll do stock replacement and a steering brace.
