M416 Brake shoes

I'm looking for brakes shoes for my new-to-me M416. I tried the search but didn't find any definitive answers. I'm trying to find out if the shoes are the same as an early Jeep or are they specific to the M416.
A call to one of the Army surplus shops on the web didn't help.

Also how about the thrust washer and lock washer for the wheel bearings? Anybody know if these will fit? http://www.jeepdoc.com/catalog/partframe.asp?id=4110

Oh man... I'm about to show my ignorance but these M416's have brakes?! I thought it just stopped when the jeep stopped pulling it forward!

I recently acquired an M416 as well so do keep us posted. If they have brakes, do they operate off inertia like some of those UHaul trailers? There's no line going from my vehicle to the trailer wheels so I'm wondering what would activate the brake! (or am I missing a line?)

 

He's probably just refering to the parking brake, activated by this lever:



I do think there was a version with inertial brakes though, but I can't remember the model designation.

 

Doh! Didn't even think about the parking brake and mine has a fully functioning one! Thanks for the correction!

 

I finally got everything back together, this is what I found out.

The existing shoes were re-lined at the local brake and clutch shop for $28. (Thanks for the tip Alan!)

The bearings and seals were standard stuff sourced from the local bearing house.

The wheel bearing washers and nuts are early Jeep parts, the same stuff they used from 41 to 86. (See link in first post.)

My brake cable was also toast, this is what ruined the brakes in the first place. I was able to get a new one from Mullins Jeep parts for $47.50

I hope this helps somebody else out down the road.

The m-416a1 is the model with a hydralic surge style brake system.it appears to be the same as early jeep (as others have stated)with the addition of E-brake cable.check some of the links for pics.
