well my future wife has this 75 cj5 258 bone stock. needs some help but works well. well indeed. im not new to offroading and im a good mechanic but i am NEW TO JEEPS!

so tell me whats the low down with these things. the steering box was crap and i put in a good one. i think it has 60k or 160k miles. doesnt blow smoke at all though. what kind of axles are on these? are they strong?. she is one bad chick, i make her do the work on it. gets down and dirty.

Congrats on the jeep and the wife! '75 was a good year imo...The front axle is a D30 and the rear is a D44. They probably have 3.73 gears in them and they should hold up well with 33" tires unless you wheel real hard. The steering you already fixed, another popular upgrade is the carb. Lots of people switch to a motocraft 2100 I think. I still have the original carter on mine but it isn't the best way to go.

Congrats on both! First tires and a little lift. Locker in the rear. Limited slip in the front because of the weak axle.
    Tow hooks.
Have fun, and start thinking about the V-8.

well we are in san antonio tx. she wanted this thing ever since she was a little girl, she got ripped off on the price but its hers now and she is happy. we are both at st phillips college taking aviation mechanics classes. i have my airframe license and soon will have my powerplant license too. she will have to wait on the licenses because she is about to join the airforce. oh yeah shes 21 and can buy my beer! im 19. she changes her own oil, works at advanced auto parts and is a little afraid offroading for her second time but she loves it and is getting better.

heres my best at some pictures.

    welcome from Atlanta.

Pretty rare to see a Jeep with the side steps. They usually get ripped of on the first kinda' hairy offroad. How bout some more pictures with closeups of the dash and engine........plenty of great info on this site !!

The steps are original. Anybody who drove anything more challenging than a dirt road took them off though.

    Fuel system?

I've had my nealy box stock 75 since high school in 77....

Still have the steps - been adjusted several times and welded back together.....

Both the Jeep and the girl look great - surprising that I don't see any visible rust showing through (on the Jeep/not girl....)

Congrats and good luck with both.

Me and your future wife have alot in common,I also have a 75 and can't wait to get it trail ready,it does run, its just a little wobblie after you reach 40 mph, nothing I cant fix though.

Just went down to San Antonio 3 years ago to visit a friend and plan to go again real soon.I hope she enjoy's her 75 as much as I enjoy mine.

Oh and welcome aboard, get her aboard to, it would be nice to have another girl here.
