Just finished pulling my lock-o-matics to do some brake work. Scared me out of two years growth when I found no spindle nut on the left side. Good thing I only drove two miles from PO's house last fall before starting a frame off.

I also found no gaskets in the lockouts. The exploded diagram I have shows hub and clutch gaskets, so I think I need to fix that on reinstall. Does anyone know a source or better yet what they made of. Can I just get some gasket material and make my own?

Hmmm. Had not thought about RTV. Might be best way to go.

I just used Mr Gasket stuff. There isn't much to leak as there is just grease behind them.

What type of grease is recommended? I know not to pack them... also I am looking for a source for the roller bearings. I looked at Herm's site and there is no longer any mention of hub parts... also Warn's site is no help. I would think there is some way to get generic roller bearings in the right size.

    thanks,

NAPA and just about any FLAPS should have the roller bearings. If you don't want to bother finding them by application you can always get the number off one of your old bearings, usually off the shelf stuff. Herm has parts including hub parts not listed on his website. As for the grease, use standard wheel bearing grease.

Thought I'd jump in since you resurrected an old thread. On my hubs without gaskets the hubs bind and won't lock and unlock. I got a bunch from Herm, still had to trim them but that solved my binding problem. Drove me nuts till I figured it out.
