Motor mount on frame.

My frame is bent and i have found one that is a 1974 renegade frame but it had a 6 cyc they think? My cj has a v8. Will the motor mounts work or will they half to be moved???

 

AFAIK intermediate Renegades only came with V8s.

The I6 and V8 mounts are different. I don't remember the details, but it would be easy to take the mounts from your old frame and put them on the new frame.

 

The I6 frame mounts are a bit wider.... but should swap from your frame to a new one unless someone hacked them. 4 bolts each...

if your frame is in good shape otherwise you might want to take to a body shop and have them straiten it. It maybe easier and cheaper in the long run.

There are a couple of VIN decoders on the web ... I'd have to search (you could too). Likely close to the '77 VINs, but I don't have my FSM here.

Thanks for the link.. I put it on my favorites. Looks like that it was never a Renegade... So will the frame work??? My motor is a v8 and the frame is for a i6. I am going to do some measure ments tonight to find out....R)

 

just swap your frame mounts over to the new frame...

 

I went ahead and bought the frame.. The old jeep did have a 258 in it... But the motor mounts are in the same bolt holes.. Picking it up tommorrow saturday.. Will get pix... Frame can not be fixed... Scrape yard it goes... Now it starts to get good....
