Skyjacker softride works well for me. Good quality, good price, great ride compared to stock springs.

I just got the BDS 2.5 lift and am pretty happy with it. I did some research and the Superlift and 4wd.com springs are made by the same company. I noticed the BDS puts teflon spacers between each leaf for better movement of the springs and to resist squeeking. From what I found you could search around and get everything you need, including shocks, springs and all hardware for $600 shipped. I like that the BDS springs have a little more thought put into them. Bob Supplee now sells BDS and always has great pricing.. His number can be found here..

    :? This says 4wdh = BDS? http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?referrerid=59358&t=140841

All the springs I've seen supported that supposition, I know I've seen it other places too.

I really like my Skyjacker Softride, it flexes great!! But it is sensitive to stock weight... if you add a bunch of weight over the stock figures, it will sag. I compensate for my rear bumper/swingout/33" spare/hilift/heavy glass tub by running longer shackles in the back.

If I was buying today, I'd buy BDS.
Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks really help bring out the best in your new springs :)

I purchased a superlift because it was the best price. Ride was quite stiff until I removed the bottom leaf from each spring. Improved the drivability of the jeep but rode quite rough until I removed a leaf.

    Jake,

I removed a fairly new kit from a 70 CJ5 I purchased a while ago. There are all 4 sets of springs with u-bolts, shackles, and shocks w/boots. I do not know the brand, but it has to be about a 3" kit.

This was a Buick V6 Jeep and it sat fairly level as well.

Let me find some pictures to post and you can let me know if you are interested.

After talking to the people at 4WDH they said alot of their stuff is made by Black Diamond and that the spring manufacture is proprietary information. From what I found on the internet I was convinced that Superlift makes their springs. I could be wrong, but if I am then I would bet that Black Diamond would be making it then..

Interesting. Not discounting what you're saying. Just the first I've heard/seen it. My experiences with the 4WD stuff was that it looked like BDS, numbers stamped on the springs were the same I thought, that was confirmed reading stuff like I linked to above.

Now you got me interested in who really makes them. I wonder who the secret manufacture is. Looks like I will be doing some more searching tonight..R)

Avoid skyjacker, They are great springs for '76 or newer CJ, but they are just too soft for the skinny springs. Eventually your jeep will lean.

FWIW, I think the 2" Rough Country springs on my '70 look identical to the Skyjacker kits I have seen on AMC CJs.

Rough Country is right here in TN. I run the 4" on my YJ and love it.
Wanted one of the RC kits for the ecj5 but got a heck of a deal on my Black Diamond kit.

    Black Diamond History:

    Started life as Rugged Trail
bought by Warn and renamed Black Diamond
then bought by Woods Ready Distrib.

Black Diamond, a high-quality line of suspension lift systems and components, shock absorbers, and body lifts, formerly manufactured and marketed by Warn Industries in Clackamas, Oregon, has been purchased by Woods Ready Distributing, Inc. of West Monroe, Louisiana.
Woods Ready Distributing will continue using the Black Diamond name, but all Black Diamond corporate offices and manufacturing will be relocated to West Monroe, Louisiana. Black Diamond will maintain its product emphasis on superior quality and performance, and much of its existing product will be retained. However, the company intends to widely expand the product line to include most popular domestic and import truck applications. There are also plans to create an international network of independent dealers to make Black Diamond products available everywhere. New dealer inquiries are encouraged. Black Diamond's new corporate offices can be reached at the address below:

BDS same as 4WDH? Well, they both have the same spring rate - F350, R375, both have bolt & cinch clamp, both have 6 leafs in a pack, both lifetime warranty, both military wrap. Sparky says same numbers on springs. Thats enough for me!

I put the skyjacker soft ride on my 1970 and it seems to work fine. 2.5 lift, easy install but it does ride stiffer than I though it would.
