I got my new heater cables in today for my 1974 cj-5. One is longer then the other two. Keep in mine that my controls for my heater go to a plate that is mounted under the speedometer. It is a factory job from AMC.. Please help:rofl:

the temp control cable might be the longest; attaches up above the blower motor, see pics below
the defroster cable is in the pic below from the parts manual.
could the third cable be the cowl vent cable ?
been a long time since I've had my head under one of those dashes

    NOTE: moved to proper forum

Where did you find the right cables? I've been looking for a couple of years now and no luck yet.

Just installed new cables in mine. The longest one goes to the blower. I looped it to the left, then up, then towards the right and behind the defrost duct. It connects near the top of the blower assembly. A b__tch to get in.
The shortest one goes to the defrost/heat control. It is actually longer than it needs to be. The other medium length cable operates the fresh air vent.
I'll try to get some pics to illustrate.

    Got mine from VintageJeepParts.com
They work great. The knobs are not OEM, but this is as close to the real thing as I could get.

Speaking of heater controls, now that Fall is here and Winter is not far off I need to find a replacement control mounting bracket (part number 13.017-2a in the above firgure). Ant suggestions where I may find one for my factory restoration '74 CJ5 project?

Not to hi-jack the thread, but does someone know where the cables go on a '79 CJ7? Got them all hooked up except the cable that goes to the vent box.
