Looking to get one for my f134 with a Solex. It is just running too rich and I cannot adjust the carb to correct it. Background...I am running a new electrical system (new wires, plugs, points, coil, etc), but will throw in my Petronix once I get it back from Genesse. I have searched threads and have found that this is a common problem with the solex. I am looking for a decent unit and maybe a part number from someone who has bought one and has had good luck with it. I plan on hitting NAPA up but wish for some opinions first. Keep in mind I cannot justify another hundred bucks on the JEEP right now so the cheaper the better.

    Thanks

I am probably going to answer my own thread but it sounds like I need to stay away from the dial type regulators (thread search). Any other ideas?

Thanks a bunch. A picture sure helps out. It looks pretty resilient.

the picture is a holley regulator. i have one, too. mine is the version that can be set from 0 to 4 psi. i run it at 1/2 psi. should cost in the vicinity of $35. got mine from lonestar motorsports in texas.

the nice thing with this holley is that it has two outlets, which allows you to hook the thing up to the carb and run a "dead end" to a pressure guage, allowing you to set the regulator to the desired pressure.

    ~ 25 bux at Summit! ;)

FWIW I used the higher-pressure versions on my drag cars and they are bulletproof, as long as you have a good filter in the system.

Found this online. I guess I will have to call Colorado Springs a "high altitude" region. I just needed to validate to my better half why I needed another JEEP part.

I’m having trouble getting my Solex downdraught carburetor for my vintage 134 4cly engine to run correctly. What adjustments should I make?
The Type M.32 PBIC carburetor is a bolt on replacement for the original Carter Carburetor and has some differences. It is very important to note that the Solex M.32 will need only 1-1/3 to 2 pounds of fuel pressure at the inlet fuel line. Any thing higher will cause the carburetor to run very rich and produce drivability problems especially in high altitude regions. If the fuel pressure is found to be to high an inline regulator will be needed. Another area to pay special attention to when installing the new carburetor is to the rubber fuel lines. If possible these lines leading to the carburetor should be replaced with new lines and installed very carefully to avoid producing trash or small rubber shavings after the fuel filter. If a small particle makes its way into the carburetor it is possible for the trash to clog the needle valve and cause a run rich condition

As Dr. Vern often preached to the masses, "Duplicate-copy checkbooks are evil!" Extra checkbook entries marked "PTA dues" and "Soccer fees" stay under the radar.... Also, make sure you write the Jeep parts checks at teh BEGINNING of the month, so the gas bill check is the one that bounces. ;)

Do you put the pressure regulator between the carb and the pump? That would be the more sensable place wouldn't it.

Mine is the dial type. Here's a picture of it installed.:

It was about $23 after shipping from Summit. Spectre brand. I found them in the local autozone as well for about the same price.
