    Here is todays effort to share a quick way to remove a broken off bolt. This pic is of a bolt I broke off in the harmonic balancer today. I welded a bolt to it and it came right out. I hope this helps someone out some day. It has saved my skin a few times.
    details: 1967 225 v6 currently getting the HEI upgrade and a few updates.
    Here is a close up pic of the HEI just passing the button head bolt.

    I know the fuel line looks like a 1899 steam boat at the bottom of the atlantic. There are a few items in dire need of tlc.
    I have some spare parts now if interested pm me.
    A few Q's:
    Did the 1967 v6 have air injection for emissions?
    Why does the Jeep universal repair manual not mention odd fire?
    Did the late model odd fire engines have the same clearence issues with the HEI?
    I am thinking of cutting this distrubitor in half and adding a few inches to get the clearence needed. Has anyone tried this yet?

    Not doubting your abilities, just being the Devil's advocate. Keeping a shaft true is very difficult w/o a jig made for it. You might do it on a piece of angle but I'd still be afraid that last weld would draw it out of true. Plus you must also extend the housing and if its aluminum I'm not sure if even TIG welding would be sufficient to last. The housing extension would have to be above the hold down collar and subject to abuse by any number of things including your buddies' leanin'. Placement is easily accomplished by a little grinding on the intake riser and clocking the distributor at the right point.:v6:

    A = yes
    B = even fire not developed yet; no need to identify and distinguish IMO
    C = not that I'm aware of
    D = seems like more hassle than it's worth

    'Cause you got the one for the early Universals (the Jeep is the Universal, not the repair manual...;)).

    Ok I think I got it figured out. Here are 4 pix, there will be more to come tomorrow. I got the hei upgrade finished today. Took it for a test drive and started to have fuel problems. I inspected the fuel system under vehicle and found some serious violations of mechanical ability. So the complete mess is going to be replaced. :beer:

    You are correct the weld would misalign the shaft. I was going to replace the shaft completely and keep it simple. As far as the housing I was planning to use a tube of 3/16 high strengh aluminum that would fit around the existing shaft. That way the weld would not be a but weld but a much stronger lap joint. Also the housing would need to be set up in a lathe and centered and prepped so the surfaces would be square and true. I know this is way too much trouble. I needed to review all options before starting the project. This helps me stay focused on the plan and not the options because they have been all eliminated. I finished the standard HEI install today and will have some pix tomorrow. It started raining very hard and I had to finish while getting wet, so no pix.
