Well i got the tranny almost ready to put together. I removed the bellhousing tonight. my problem is the transmission leaks out the front where the bottom counter shaft gets pushed into the tranny case. The problem was i pushed the shaft out the wrong way during my original tear down the T98 before i knew better. So now the tranny leaks there. First times i tried to slather RTV on the front but i guess i never cleaned it good enoguh. So now i want to slea it much better. I am cleaning the heck out of it and tipping the tranny back a bit so no oil nears the front even thoguh it is drained.

What i am planning on doing is cutting a piece of aluminum or thin sheet metal larger than the shaft. Then RTV the heck out fo it and stick it over. That way is is far enoguh from the shaft to try and seal it. This is the only way i can think of sealing it besides removing the shaft and either replacing the case or try to get the shaft machined for an O-ring on the end to try and seal it.

Anyone have any other ides on how to seal this?

    Thanks!!

I've sealed a few gas tanks with it! Does that count?

If I am understanding this correctly , you are talking about hte shaft coming out the rear of the transmission. Does the transfer case mate up and cover it? If not have you considered epoxy?

Yea, maybe a big gob of JB weld...
I've also sealed a gas tank with it once. I don't remember it ever leaking after that.

It is teh front of the case. When the bellhousing is on it is partially covered by it.
