    Contunued from here... Interior Liners
    http://www.earlycj5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34154

The above forum started the conversation of liners, but curious to see what products others have used and the outcome. Would like to do this myself but want to make sure I use a good product after I grind the whole interior of my jeep. Looking to see examples of different DIY liners people have used.

Not just for interior but also under tub/exterior/rollbars anywhere.

    -Thanks

Heck, I think they look pretty darn good. At least they don't say "DO NOT ENTER" or "DEAD END" on them like some of mine.:)

Hey, thanks for the pics - looks like you have a lot of texture. I don't care about cleaning- I'll hose out and I won't be sliding cargo in. The more texture the better. Did you roll or spray in, how thick is it and how is it holding up????

    Thanks

Excellent job. I did the same thing to 3/4 of the outside of my tub this weekend. Will do the rest next weekend.

I rolled it in. I was able to do the whole thing (remove interior, prep, and line) in a day. It held up real well for at least a year, though I don't have the vehicle anymore. It never rubbed off or cracked or peeled. I was pretty abusive on sliding things in and out of the back with no problems.

I'm not sure what the thickness was. I used 2 coats and rolled them on as thick as I could. There were no benefits as far as sound reduction goes.

For cleaning I would recommend a hose and a shop-vac. With the texture there is no way you'll be able to sweep it out (dog hair is especially bad).

I did mine this weekend. Herculiner, Two Quarts and some brushes came out to a little over $60.

    It made a big difference.

That turned out real nice. A couple of the other pics in the gallery give a better idea of the texture you came out with.

Well, I think you guys have made a believer out of me. I think I am going to try the Herculiner and see what happens. I will hopefully get it done this week and post some pictures.

I did it under the carpet in my Chevelle. I wire brushed, then rolled it on. It has really held up well, and was a lot easier than getting the whole interior primed and painted. (The orange in the before pic is actually some kind of factory adhesive, not rust, although there was some rust to the left in the pic where you see the grinder marks.) I've also got a similar coating in my JEEP, but I don't have the before pics. I really like it.

Jayhawkclint - what liner did you use? that looks smoother than herculiner.

Sorry, guess I didn't list the name. I don't have the can anymore. I bought it at a FLAPS last summer. It was either O'Reilly's or AutoZone. Durabak, maybe? I think I only paid $30 for a whole gallon. Had enough to do two coats with plenty left over. It did have a shiny surface at first, but it dulled a little after it cured for a week or two. I will say that it is much smoother than Line-X or other rubberized coating. The texture you see in the glare of the flash was actually left by using a high knap roller. The directions said to use a special sponge roller if more texture was desired. Has held up well. IIRC, the can had directions for adding sand or other non-skid to it, but I figured since it was going under carpet, why bother. I recommend you scuff up the surface with 80 grit, then VACUUM THOUROUGHLY. I rolled mine on, and found that little pieces of debris would clog to the knap and end up stuck permanently to the finish if you didn't fish them out before it hardened.
