I have one more greaseable U-shackle to get off my 56. (I'm putting on warrior H-shackles). Of course, it is really stuck. PB? didn't budge it. Hammer it? no. heat it? only with propane. (I don't want to use the welding torch on it). the impact gun doesn't budge. Hammering on it with a wrench on the nut? no good. I've tried left handed and right handed. doesn't budge.

    who has an answer?

Maybe try some more PB Blast on it.
Other than that just heat and beat.

Worse comes to worse grind the bolt head off and pound it through with a punch.

well... it's one of those big bolts that screws into shackle and also has threads in the shackle hole itself. I think if I torch it or cut off the head, that it would just spin in the shackle hole.

If you can get it hollowed out enough you can use a sawzall and cut it out. Make a couple slits in it and it should either fall out or will be able to pound out. Granted thats a last resort.....

Man I'm not sure what would be better to remove the old. You might want to try to remove the lower half of the shackle leaving the 1/2 of the 90 deg bend and then try to turn it out of the frame threads(cut off opposite side) using heat and a pipe wrench to turn the shackle. Mine were worn enough that I was able to talk it out using a BFH and a frosty beverage!

Had the same problems with mine. I got about a 3' long cheater bar, grabbed onto the fender and jumped up and down until it broke.

nice image of someone jumping off the fender.

I finally had to cut it off with my cut off wheel. then it unscrewed real easy.
