Drive train colors

I pulled the clutch on my stock 83 CJ5 I6 and want to repaint everything the original color.

What color should the Dana 300 transfer case, T176 transmission, and bell housing be?

It appears the transfer case was all black, the tranny and bell housing were unpainted, and the engine block was black.

It looks like the factory painted many things in place since some components are part black and part unpainted such as on the bell housing and the exhaust air tube that crosses under.

IIRC. All AMC motors are AMC blue, bellhousing should be unpainted I believe the same for the tranny and t case. I do not thing anything is black except the axles from the factory. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

 

At some point black replaced blue. There are some nice pictures of stock cj's at http://www.collinsbrosjeep.com/main.htm with black and blue motors. There's an 82 with blue and some 83 and later cj's with black. Mine's an 83 and it's black.
